Maestro Kerstein has held the Orchestra’s baton since its formation more than 25 years ago. Over the last decade as the Music Director and Conductor, Steven Kerstein has earned a reputation as a charismatic conductor who challenges the musicians and audiences alike with his interpretaions of standard and modern orchestral literature.

 

A popular guest conductor in the United States and abroad, he has conducted premieres of numerous critically acclaimed works for symphony orchestra-most recently J. Alex Whyte’s Mercantour Symphony.

Many world-famous artists have performed with him including Metropolitan Opera star Richard Bernstein and Los Angeles Opera’s Suzanna Guzman. Maestro Kerstein has establised a national reputation for the BPO with major profiles in the Wall Street Journal, ABC News, and various local media including the Burbank Leader, The Tolucan Times, and The Hollywood Times. The Los Angeles Times once called Maesto Kerstein ‘The secret to the Orchestra’s success.’
