The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra presents the 25th Anniversary Gala Concert with soloists Julie Adams, soprano, and Annie Jacobs-Perkins, cello, both grand prize winners of recent Hennings-Fischer Young Artists Competition.  Musicians will be showcasing gowns designed by Woodbury Fashion Design students for the “Fashion Meets the Phil” project. The music begins at 8:00 p.m. with Maestro Steven Kerstein directing. The FREE concert will be held at the wonderful Ambassador Auditorium. Music by Verdi, Elgar, Charpentier, Mozart and Tchaikovsky.

The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra in conjunction with the Hennings-Fischer Foundation is announcing the Fifteenth Annual Young Artists Competition to be held at the Hall of Liberty in Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills this coming May 2016.

 

Please submit a completed application and a non-refundable fee of $35.00 no later than Monday, April 25, 2016.

 

Preliminary auditions will be held in Burbank on May 4 and 5, with the finals on Saturday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. with audience. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the performances. 

 

An honorarium of $500 will be awarded to the First Prize winners of the instrumental and opera categories who will also perform with the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra. Additional honoraria and certificates may be given. 

 

The competition is open to all opera singers and orchestral instrumentalists excepting pianists of age 30 and under as of May 7, 2016. Repertoire requirements for strings, woodwinds, brass & percussion: Complete concerto from the standard repertoire. 

Repertoire requirements for singers: Three contrasting arias from the standard operatic repertoire 

 

Competitors must provide their own accompanists to the preliminaries and finals. Memorization of all repertoires is preferred. Judges' decisions are final.
