The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra began its journey in 1991 as the Burbank Chamber Orchestra, under the leadership of Maestro Steven Kerstein. Making its debut in 1992, the orchestra quickly captured the hearts of local audiences with performances that showcased the talents of skilled studio and motion picture musicians.

By 1994, the City of Burbank recognized the orchestra’s potential and provided funding support, helping to bring world-renowned soloists like violinist Robert Cani and bass-baritone Richard Bernstein to the stage. By 1998, the orchestra was hosting four concerts a year and collaborating with industry giants like Warner Bros. and Walt Disney Special Events, featuring music from Disney classics such as "Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," and "The Little Mermaid."
In 2002, reflecting its growing reputation and diverse repertoire, the Burbank Chamber Orchestra rebranded as the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the past four decades, the orchestra has performed for over 125,000 attendees at iconic venues like Burbank's Starlight Bowl and Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium. Committed to music education, the orchestra has brought musical outreach programs to Burbank schools and hosted family concerts, including memorable performances like "Peter and the Wolf," narrated by local favorite Fritz Coleman. The Burbank Philharmonic has also been a proud participant in the City of Burbank’s July 4th celebration concerts for several years.

Now, the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra is coming home, reclaiming its place at the heart of the Burbank community. With a renewed commitment to engaging and inspiring local audiences, the orchestra is excited to take center stage once again, bringing music and culture back to where it all began.
